Board of Directors 2018-2019

President: Carol Crummey McCardle (president@juniorleaguealbany.org) Carol Crummey McCardle joined the Junior League of Albany in 2013 and became President in 2018. Prior, Carol was President Elect for one year, Secretary for two years and a member of the Communications Council for two years. Carol grew up hearing about the extraodinary work of Junior League of Albany women, because both her grandmothers were extremely active in the Junior League of Albany as President and Vice-President. Carol has gained valuable volunteer activities and made dozens of new friends in the process. Carol graduated from Boston College in 2008 obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in English and Communications. She received her Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School in 2013. Currently, she practices civil litigation at O’Connor, O’Connor, Bresee and First, P.C. Carol and her husband Jonathan live in Delmar.

Secretary: Meaghan Murphy (secretary@juniorleaguealbany.org) Meaghan Murphy is currently serving as the Secretary for the Junior League of Albany for the 2018-2020 term.  Previously, she was appointed to serve as Secretary during a one-year vacancy.  Prior to joining the Board of Directors, Meaghan served as the chair of new fundraisers, spearheading the creation of the Always A Bridesmaid event, and in the fund development council.  Meaghan is also a trustee of the board of the Albany Institute of History and Art, a member of the SPAC Junior Committee and an avid supporter of the Albany Symphony Orchestra.  She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Albany Law School and currently practices estate planning, business succession planning and corporate law at Lavelle & Finn, LLP.  She and her husband Nick live in Troy.

Treasurer: Ginny Gutman (treasurer@juniorleaguealbany.org) Ginny Gutman is the 2017-2019 Treasurer for the Junior League of Albany, her first position on the board.  Previously she served as a co-chair on both the Training Committee and the Social Fundraiser committee.  Ginny originally joined JLA in interest of getting to know her new community and to volunteer her time with like-minded women.  She is happy to report that it has achieved both for her and so much more.  Ginny works as a mental health therapist/clinic coordinator at Albany Medical Center’s Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic.  In her spare time Ginny and her husband are avid hikers. They also enjoy skiing, traveling, watching their favorite teams play, and spoiling their rescued dog, Abbott.

Vice President Communications: Lisa Walters (communications@juniorleaguealbany.org) Lisa joined the Junior League of Albany in 2013 and currently holds the position of VP Communications. Since joining, Lisa has served as VP Fund Development for three years helping to create the Touch-A-Truck, Little Black Dress and Always A Bridesmaid fundraisers. Lisa also served as a chair for the American Girl Fashion Show for two years. Lisa has also been actively involved in member recruitment and new fund development ideas and long-term planning for the League. Lisa received her B.A. with Distinction from Cornell University and received her M.B.A. with Distinction from the Stern School of Business at New York University. Throughout her 20+ year career, Lisa has worked with and for leading companies in the retail and apparel sector. Lisa is also a four time entrepreneur in the retail sector and currently leads Retail Eye Consulting, an equity research and financial advisory firm. Lisa serves as a judge and mentor for the NYU New Venture competition and student mentor for both Cornell and NYU. Lisa lives in East Greenbush with her husband Kelly, son Landon and dog Tucker.

Vice President Community: Jessica Rubino (community@juniorleaguealbany.org) Jess joined the Junior League of Albany in 2015 and currently serves as the VP of Community. Previously, she served as the Chair for Community Impact and Co-Chair for Touch-a-Truck.   She joined after researching various charitable organizations in the Capital District that would assist her get adjusted to being an “Upstater” while doing good for her new local community. An original Long Islander, she moved north to further her education and hasn’t looked back! Jess works as a Project Knowledge Expert for a national automotive software company. Jess is a NENY’s Red Cross’ Fire & Ice committee member and is also a SPAC Jr. committee member. She currently resides in Guilderland, NY. Hobbies include trying new restaurants, travelling and being the best and most fun mother to her 7 year old son.

Vice President Finance: Karen Clark (finance@juniorleaguealbany.org) Karen joined the Junior League of Albany in 2009 after researching various charitable organizations in the Capital District trying to find a way to give back to the local community. Since joining, Karen has been actively involved in the Done in a Day Committee, the Communication Committee, the American Girl Fashion Show, served as Treasurer and is now serving as VP Finance. Karen received her B.S. from Clarkson University and received her M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Throughout her 25+ year engineering career, Karen worked for several top engineering firms and currently designs wastewater treatment facilities for various municipalities and industries. She currently is a Senior Managing Engineer at Barton & Loguidice in Albany, New York and lives in Albany with her fiancé, Dave and rescue dog, Sadie.

Vice President Fund Development: Michelle Mahon (funddevelopment@juniorleaguealbany.org) Michelle joined the Junior League of Albany in 2015 and currently serves as the VP of Fund Development.  Previously, she was on the Done in a Day committee, the Centennial Gala Committee, and was Chair of Community Grants.  Michelle received her BS in Finance and HR Management from Boston College and her MBA from The University at Albany.  She has spent her entire professional career in non-profit development. Currently, she is a major gift officer for The University at Albany and also volunteers with Boston College and The Academy of the Holy Names.  Michelle lives in Albany with her husband Dave and their rescue dog, Barnum.

Vice President Membership: Fran Pickles (membership@juniorleaguealbany.org) Fran joined the Junior League of Albany in 2014 as a way to connect with like-minded women who are passionate about making a difference in their community. She has served as a Co-Chair for the Inaugural Touch-A-Truck event and most recently as Training Chair for the league. She earned her B.S. in Hospitality Administration at Boston University and is currently completing her M.Ed. in Instructional Design from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Fran currently works full-time at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as Regional Development Director. In addition to the Junior League of Albany, she serves on the Advisory Council for Mission Accomplished Transition Services and plays in a recreational kickball league.

Vice President Nominating: Caitlin Montavlo (nominating@juniorleauealbany.org) Caitlin joined the Junior League of Albany in the Fall of 2008, following her graduation from Russell Sage College, where she studied Business and Organizational Management. Throughout her roughly 10 years of service with the JLA, Caitlin, a Past President (2014-2015), has held the positions of American Girl Fashion Show Co-Chair, Junior Chair of Fund Development, VP of Fund Development, VP of Finance, Treasurer, VP of Membership, Centennial Gala Committee Member, and currently serves as the VP of Nominating. She also serves on the Board of Directors and Philanthropy Committee of Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region, an organization which inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold and is a member of the Friends of the Albany Fund for Education, which enhances opportunities for Albany City School District students to learn, grow and succeed. Additionally, she serves on the Programming Committee of the Capital Region Chamber’s Women’s Business Council. Caitlin is a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker with Monticello, a boutique real estate firm, and truly has a passion for her work. She and her husband, Ramfis, reside in Albany with their rescue dog, Rylee, and are very excited to be welcoming their first child in February 2019. In her spare time, Caitlin enjoys gardening, decorating, and skiing.
