August 2016 — Junior League of Albany helps to expand Albany Backpack Program!

A small coalition of parents and nonprofits had already been working together to send some Albany students home with backpacks of food on weekends during the school year, but the funding wasn’t there to expand the program beyond just a few schools in the district. But this year, with an eye on Schenectady, the group hopes to change that… So far, the program has received a $10,000 pledge from SEFCU, which also helped get Schenectady’s program up and running; $5,000 each from the Albany Fund for Education and the Junior League of Albany; $2,500 from an anonymous individual; and $24,961 in pledged donations.”
