Capital Roots Selected as New Community Partner

After an extensive RFP process and review, The Junior League of Albany is excited to announce it has selected Capital Roots, as its community partner for the current league year that runs thru May 2019.

Capital Roots is a local non-profit working to reduce the impact of poor nutrition on public health in New York’s Capital Region by organizing community gardens, providing healthy food access, offering nutritional and horticultural education for all ages and coordinating urban greening programs.

The Junior League of Albany will be awarding Capital Roots $10,000 to start the Taste Good Series at Sheridan Preparatory Academy in Albany, NY. The Taste Good Series is a nutrition education program for children in pre- school through second grade. The program includes games, age-appropriate science experiments, and tasting course. The program engages students in the process of developing their own healthy lifestyles.
